Breaking in the New Kove Fleet – A Weekend to Remember

After months of planning, preparation, and plenty of anticipation, our new fleet of Kove 450 Rally and 800X Rally motorcycles finally got to do what they were built for—hit the road.

To help break the bikes in ahead of the upcoming tour season, we invited a small group of riders to join us for a ride-in weekend. Two riders flew over from Australia, while five local Kiwi riders completed the group, bringing together a great mix of riding experience and personalities.

Mother Nature had her own plans for the weekend. Saturday was wet from start to finish, while Sunday delivered cold winter temperatures. But that's adventure riding in New Zealand. The weather doesn't always play ball, and that's all part of the experience.

In many ways, the conditions couldn't have been better for getting to know the bikes. Riding in the rain gave everyone the chance to experience how confidence-inspiring both the Kove 450 Rally and the 800X Rally are when conditions aren't perfect, while the cold Sunday morning reinforced just how enjoyable these bikes are over long days in the saddle.

The weekend wasn't about riding as many kilometers as possible. It was about bedding the engines in properly, making suspension adjustments, fine-tuning the controls, and ensuring every motorcycle is progressing towards being ready for the adventures that await our guests this season.

One of the highlights was seeing riders swap between the two models throughout the weekend. Experiencing the bikes back-to-back gave everyone a chance to appreciate the unique character of each machine. Some loved the lightweight, nimble feel of the 450 Rally, while others preferred the effortless power and comfort of the 800X Rally. There wasn't a clear winner—and that's probably the best compliment we could give the new fleet.

Of course, weekends like this are about more than just motorcycles. They're about bringing together people who share a passion for adventure riding. By the end of the weekend, plenty of stories had been shared, new friendships had been made, and everyone left with smiles on their faces despite the less-than-ideal weather.

For us at Rumbling Adventures, weekends like this are an important part of preparing for the season ahead. Every kilometer helps us fine-tune the fleet, and the honest feedback from experienced riders gives us the confidence that we're on the right track.

After a successful first weekend, the bikes are almost run in, the suspension is getting dialed in, and we're making the final tweaks before the tour season begins. There's still a little work to do, but everything we've seen so far has us even more excited about what's ahead.
