The 4 DAYS OF DIRT ride is an epic South Island adventure experience consisting of 70% dirt. This ride consists of 4 days of excellent riding, starting and finishing in Tekapo, taking in some of the best back roads, tracks and river crossings on the South Island.

Five nights accommodation is included in the ride with overnights in Tekapo, Kurow, Alexandra and Roxburgh, providing opportunity to look around some amazing New Zealand towns and enjoy the local hospitality.

Experience a large range of riding conditions from breathtaking river crossings , riding through famous high country stations and passing through remote alpine areas such as Nevis Valley ,Old Dunstan Rd and Danseys Pass, you will definitely be in awe.

Riders will be picked-up, before midday, the morning before the tour starts from Christchurch airport/hotel and dropped-off the day after it finishes.

This ride has a “DIRT” focus with some tarseal riding and a lot of gravel roads, tracks and river/stream crossings to keep you on your toes. 

This ride is only suited to riders with gravel and off-road riding abilities unless otherwise specified.

The Ride

Day 1 - You will be picked up from Christchurch Airport or a hotel and taken to Tekapo where you will familiarise yourself with your motorcycle, meet other riders on your ride and stay the night.

Day 2 - Tekapo to Alexandra.  Leaving Tekapo we head south via Lake Benmore and Mount Buster and the Ida Valley. This is a good introduction on what to expect over the next 3 days. 267KM-  70% Dirt

Day 3 - Alexandra to Roxburgh. We   head southeast to join the Old Man Range and traverse it to get into the Nevis Valley. From here we track south on the Nevis track to join the SH6 and ride asphalt to Waimea where we turn north to track along Piano Flats and into the Waikaia Bush before arriving to Roxburgh for the night. 323KM - 50% Dirt

Day 4 - Roxburgh to Kurow. Tracking past the north of Lake Onslow we join up with the Old Dunstan Road and travel to Moa Creek where we head north to Kurow via St Bathans. 263KM - 80% Dirt

Day 5 - Kurow to Tekapo.  We head north via Hakataramea Valley and Lake Pukaki to Tekapo where we will spend the night. 296KM - 75% Dirt

Day 6 - You will be dropped off at Christchurch Airport or a hotel.

EXCLUSIONS

  • Motorcycle riding gear - The individual rider is responsible for having the appropriate rider safety gear including a appropriate helmet with visor or goggles, gloves, boots and clothing.

  • Meals - No meals are included in this ride. Each stop offers a variety of dining options. All meals are at individuals cost.

  • The accommodation after you have been dropped off.

  • Flights to and from Christchurch.

  • Personal Items
